You have done the drive from Geneva multiple times and that final approach to Chamonix feels like coming home. An avid skier and mountain enthusiast you’ve skied other resorts, but your heart belongs to Chamonix. It’s the buzz of the town, the variety of skiing and the staggering beauty of those snow-capped jagged peaks.
This year there is a new all singing, all dancing, all glazed marvel in town. Chalet Couttet has raised the bar for next winter. Sleeping ten of your nearest and dearest and showcasing stunning architecture and interior design in one of the most luxurious new chalets in Chamonix, we know it’ll be tough ever going anywhere else in the future. Your insatiable love for skiing, architecture, interior design and luxury will have you hooked.
Greeted by the in-resort team, as you step over the threshold, you know you have found the one. Chalet Couttet’s position is hard to beat in a town full of chalets all vying for the top viewing spots. However, we challenge you to find a morning coffee, an afternoon dip in the twelve-meter outdoor pool or an afternoon tea on the vast terrace with a more astounding view. There really is no escaping from the tumbling glacier above you.
The interior of the chalet more than matches her superior position. The striking living area is dominated by sofas so plump you fear that you might have to stay there and admire the views forever. Which, we appreciate, when you have seven days and the luxury of time, will be an incredibly hard ask. The sofas are laid out around the focal point that is the suspended log burner, trying its best to steal your attention away from the angled panes of glass encouraging that view in. Flooded with light, this is a room that will be the heart of your favourite week.
If you can tear yourself away, the separate cinema room is calling you for an afternoon in with a classic movie and a big bowl of popcorn. Sink into the deep sofas, snuggle under a faux fur throw and drift away for a couple of hours. We won’t judge you that it is only 3pm. After all, you secretly hope for a white out afternoon when you are staying somewhere like Chalet Couttet. Time to be free of outdoor attire and slip into cashmere. Normally only allowed an outing on lazy Sunday afternoons at home but just such days in the Alps are designed for indulgence.
If that and the games room gets a little tiresome, how about cracking open the duty free G&T for a drink by the hot tub on the terrace? Lazily you consider the options for dinner - local restaurant or cook up something simple with the delicious fare from the local deli ? Or maybe ask the resort team to arrange a chef for the evening - decision making on holiday can be such a trial!
Just like the ease of everything so far on your favourite week. From arriving and knowing there are two master suites, saving that awkward politeness between you and Susie, to Chalet Couttet’s yoga studio. Surely this will ensure that all good intentions of starting the day are continued, despite the slightly hazy head not being the greatest fan of a 7am limber up. Then there is the enviable location, with the centre of Chamonix and the Aiguille du Midi cable car just a mere five minute drive away.
With a fresh dose of snow on its way, you were warned that it would be tough to even glimpse at another luxury chalet after a stay at Chalet Couttet.
