Sweetly elegant with added luxury. On the edge of the forest and yet minutes away from the centre of town. A newly built and addition to Val d’Isere’s modern alpine chalet collection, Chalet 1850 is carving some lovely turns down the well-groomed ski piste of holiday homes in iconic resorts. With four doubles and a bunk bed room, it accommodates a large party of 8 adults and 4 children, balanced and stylish. It finishes the run with a flourish - a spacious spa area with large sauna, luscious Jacuzzi and indulgent relaxation zone.

We offer full catering at Chalet 1850, allowing plenty of time for all members of the party to make the most of the sybaritic pleasures of that spa. How wonderful is the sip of champagne that follows the deeply scented warmth and total relaxation of a bubbling hot tub. Just add an exquisite canapé and follow with the exertions of a 4-course dinner. With wine.

Dinner and surrounding life all takes place on the top floor of the chalet, under a gloriously beamed ceiling. A corner wood burning hearth is a warming focal point, and a long table invites 10 to dinner. The kitchen is open plan – make friends with your private chef (they can be an excellent resource for resort information, not to mention source of resort gossip). Come breakfast time, large windows will be flooding the room with alpine light that resonates the gentle winter whites of comfy sofas. The windows open onto a wide balcony and bring the view inside.  

Stairs lead down to the first floor and that salubrious spa, the master and two more bedrooms. The master is a little larger than the others and blessed with a large bathroom that includes a bath tub sand walk-in shower. Another double bedroom on this floor uses the shower room across the hallway. The children’s bunk room has no windows and so no outside light – it is their luxurious lair, their comfortable cave, albeit a cave with plenty of space and a shower room en-suite. Two further double bedrooms on the ground floor have en-suite shower rooms. The ground floor also has the private ski room and access to the shared garage where 1850 has space for 1 car.

The garage is shared with a sister chalet in the same building whose owners picked a wonderful spot in this desirable area where some further development is testament to its advantages. The centre of town is a 15-minute walk or 4-minute drive away and the nearest lift is the super comfortable gondola from La Daille. After your last run of the day, after, perhaps, some beautiful crisp carving down the fabulous OK red run to the village, it’s just 3-minutes’ drive back the chalet and that spa.
