Welcome to Chalet Face. Your unadulterated luxurious home for the next two weeks is only possible when located in one of Val D’Isere’s most prestigious locations. Modern alpine luxury, spectacular views and a short walk to the pistes – what more could you ask for from your favourite two weeks in the Alps?

You take it in turn to rotate the hassle of finding the perfect chalet and ensuring that it is suitable for all in your party. This year it has come back round to your turn and after Charlotte’s find last year, it is time to up the anti, with two weeks of luxury firmly in everyone’s diaries. Some might quake at the pressure, however, you have a secret weapon up your ski jacket sleeve – your friends in high places. One call was all it took to hand the brief over and turn finding your perfect chalet from a chore to a breeze. The look on the group’s faces will be worth it when you sweep into the heart of Val D’Isere and pull up outside Chalet Face. With an open plan living space that makes your jaw drop and five beautifully appointed bedrooms, you know that your job is done. The rest of the week can be handed over to Chalet Face’s diligent team of staff.

Time to leave your new snow boots and down jacket at the door (belated Christmas present to yourself?) and be the grateful receiver of a glass of something bubbly. Well, you might as well start as you mean to go on. Just because you have two weeks it doesn’t mean that indulgent recovery from the stresses and strains of everyday is taken any less seriously.

You would volunteer to help unpack the car but there are priorities when these are your favourite days of the year. Namely tucking into afternoon tea whilst slumped into Chalet Face’s faux fur clad corner sofa. With the men in the party off admiring the challenge that is La Face piste and goading each other to embrace the challenge, you ladies have priorities. It doesn’t take long to find your bedrooms, embrace robes and slippers and reconvene on the lower floor for some much needed R&R after that transfer. Certainly the perfect excuse to test the swimming pool and hammam ahead of tomorrow’s arduous day of keeping up with your husbands on any number of Val D’Isere’s and Tignes' 300km of of ski runs.

Roll on a few hours and a night sunk into that cloud of a bed, morning is normally quite a stressful occurrence. Breakfast usually needs bolting, you are never allowed another cup of coffee and being hustled out of the door by your husband invariably means leaving a glove or a lift pass behind. Until this morning. With Chalet Face enviably located just metres from the Bellevarde lift, all of that is a thing of the past. You can’t help but feel the wave of smugness come over you – this group have never witnessed such a leisurely breakfast. Although that hasn’t stopped the men in wolfing another croissant only to get a competitive head start on Le Face. With a location this convenient, why not enjoy a care free cup of coffee in bed before even contemplating the day? These are what sets a favourite day apart from an everyday.

Come mid afternoon, you will have some serious snowy miles under your belt along with a glass or three of champagne from après at Cocorico’s. Look forward to returning home to Chalet Face and being well and truly looked after. An air of calm falls on Chalet Face as the bedrooms are occupied with the very important matter of getting ready for that magical hour of canapé o’clock.

Take it from your friends in high places but we bet that by the end of the week, stilettos will be replaced with slippers and LBDs with cashmere leggings. However, for tonight, everyone is dressed to impress. After all, we can’t have Chalet Face showing you up. Sweep past the roaring fire and mingle between the sumptuous lounge and dining area, looking resplendent in the glow of evening. Soon it’ll be time to join the twinkle of candlelight at the table and settle in to your favourite evenings of the year. This is what a luxury chalet is all about. With your highly qualified professional chef in the kitchen, you know that these fourteen nights will be like no other.  

So go on, sink back into your sheepskin adorned dining chair and request your favourite vintage. After all, you’ve earned it by booking the best ski trip yet.
